General Rules

Division rounds are virtual and require a video submission of the student's performance.

  • Teachers are responsible for submitting their students' application and video.
  • Student applications and videos must be submitted by the due date indicated for each level.
    Due dates can be found on the calendar page of our website.
  • Entry fees are due prior to or with your student application and video submission.
    • Submissions without entry fees will not be included in the competition.
  • Finalists will be announced via Web based broadcast and will advance to state finals.

Levels


ChamPianos is divided into 6 skill levels. Students compete against other students on their same skill level.
  • There are 3 tiers, with 2 classifications within each tier.
  • Student may compete on the same level a maximum of 2 years.
    • Students may compete as Maestro II for more than 2 years but may not be older than age 18
  • Intermezzo - Maestro Levels may perform NON-simplified music only.
  • BOLD Music reserves the right to adjust student levels to maintain a fair and balanced competition.

Repertoire

Please choose repertoire that best reflects the skill level of the student.

  • Students must perform a piece from our repertoire list
    • 1 piece by memory.
      • Please do not play the repeats.
  • Students must select a different piece for ChamPianos Division and State competitions, within the same level.
  • All pieces must be transcribed for piano.

Videos

All videos must abide by the following guidelines.
Watch the video to the left for samples of acceptable videos.

  • Videos must be filmed on an acoustic piano.
    • Videos must show the performers face or profile, and be shot from an angle showing they are not reading music.
            I.e. Showing they are playing by memory.
    • Videos that do not follow this guideline will not be evaluated.
  • Videos recorded within 6 months of the deadline are acceptable.
      Pending the student is eligible to participate in that level.
